As an homage to the original players who first supported the Air Force One model during their professional days, Nike released six new kicks during the 25th anniversary of the Air Force 1 back in 2007 commemorating the true originators: Moses Malone, Jamaal Wilkes, Bobby Jones, Calvin Natt, Michael Cooper, and Mychal Thompson. Each shoe is modeled after the style of play of each person. Premium materials were used for each model to represent each athlete. On the heel panel of the shoes are words that describe the type of player each one is.
Originally released in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 was the first Nike model to feature "Air" technology. This legendary basketball sneaker was designed by Bruce Kilgore, and named after the aircraft that carries the President of the United States, the Air Force One. The Air Force 1 is Nike's most popular sneaker to date, has been produced in nearly 2,000 different colorways, and is available in low, mid, and high-top models.
