For your consideration is an extraordinary and one-of-a-kind royal Egyptian decree, an authentic military exemption document issued in the name of His Majesty King Farouk I, the last reigning monarch of Egypt and the final sovereign of the illustrious Muhammad Ali dynasty. This rare artifact, preserved in exceptional condition, represents a significant example of royal administrative authority during Egypts final era of monarchy. Penned in elegant and formal Diwani script, the decree opens with the traditional Islamic invocation, Bismillah al-Rahman al-Rahim (In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful), a formula reserved for the most solemn and official state acts. Issued by the Royal Recruitment and Mobilization Authority in Zagazig, the document officially records the permanent exemption of Saeed Abd Rabbo Abd al-Jalil from military service, following a ruling of unfitness by the Supreme Medical Committee.
The body of the text affirms, We, the Director of the Recruitment and Mobilization Zone in Zagazig, hereby certify that Mr. Saeed Abd Rabbo Abd al-Jalil, born on December 31, 1956, has been permanently exempted from performing military service due to being medically unfit for military service. This decision was made based on the certificate of the medical committee in Zagazig and approved by the Supreme Medical Committee. Most notably, the decree is issued based on the Royal Will and upon the presentation of the Minister of War and Navy, an official formulation indicating that the act is carried out by direct command of the King himself. The document is boldly hand-signed Min Farouk (From Farouk) and bears the Kings striking negative cartouche seal, a beautifully rendered emblem in oval format reading, Farouk the First, King of Egypt, in ornate Diwani calligraphy.
The document also displays an embossed raised royal seal at the topan authoritative emblem of the Kingdom of Egypts coat of arms, featuring a regal crown atop crossed national flags. Further affirming its authenticity is a large visible royal watermark, seamlessly integrated into the high-quality official paper stock, bearing the arms of the Kingdom of Egypt. This watermark, along with the seal and signature, confirms the documents issuance from official royal stationery and places it firmly within the administrative apparatus of the monarchy just prior to the revolutionary upheaval of 1952.
Documents personally and signed by King Farouk I are exceedingly rare, particularly those pertaining to military and civil exemptions that were formally granted by royal decree. With its richly calligraphed Arabic text, prominent seals, royal watermark, and full royal titulature, this piece is not only of immense historical and scholarly value but also visually compelling and highly collectible. Measuring approximately 18 x 11.75 inches, and with original folds, annotations, and a period stamp on the verso, it remains a museum-quality artifactfully authentic, correct, and representative of the last generation of Egyptian monarchy. This decree stands as a profound reminder of the administrative, ceremonial, and symbolic power once held by the throne of Egypt.
